For something fairly mundane, I needed to know the names of each day of the week, in Dutch. I googled, and got this. I dont think I could really ask for much more.
O' oracle, tell me truths....
O' oracle, tell me truths....
the arabic ones are written wrong
Try to find out where the english (and german, and other similar sounding ones) came from.
For example, it's pretty obvious that spanish, latin etc are named after heavenly bodies.
(Lunes=Luna, Martes=Mars, Miercoles=Mercury, Jueves=Jupiter, Viernes=Venus, Sabado=Saturn, and Domingo is the odd one out in spanish (not in english though). The answer is pretty cool, especially for any Canberran who is familiar with the town of Woden.
They even have Irish! I'm impressed.
Truly, the Oracle is wise..
Dude, they have Cornish....
Luly, how wrong are the arabic ones? Like, written in one particular dialect or street slang, or just plain wrong?
I triumphed the first time I needed to know days in Dutch - I was out the front of a shop, and the shop had a sign in the window saying it was closed on "Donderdag"
Donder - Thunder - Thor - Thurs...easy!
the arabic ones are spelled incorrectly and they have some letters missing - like Sunday is "al-ahad" it's written "al-ah"
they for got the "ad"
