A Different Drummer

Saturday Night Feasting

Last nights Dinner menu:

Starting off with some Prosciutto di San Daniele (delicious), 2 different kinds of smoked salmon (one very fresh, soft pink smoked salmon, and one that was dried out and a little more chewy, both delicious), Epoisses cheese, and both sun dried and semi dried tomatoes. A big oval of Turkish bread was quickly torn to shreds while devouring these awesome delicacies.

Break out the wine. A bottle of 1998 Falconaro - the guy in the store told me it would go well with the prosciutto. It tasted frigging wonerful.....Note to self....always trust the guy in the store...

Its a pretty simple mushroom risotto for the main course, made uber tasty by the fantastic aged pecorino cheese we put into it, and the truffle oil drizzled over the top before serving. Damn, that was some good truffle oil.

Desert was tight. Panna Cotta served topped with a pile of strawberries soaked in balsamic vinegar and black pepper. Some tasty business right there.....

To eat like this is to affirm life at its fullest. Lovely.

Yeah, we only eat like this once a month, just after pay day. Expect to see my Gourmet eating postings around the 30th of each month, give or take a few days :)
