Big plans at google?

An ongoing fascination of mine on this and previous blogs has been the phenomenal growth and general awesomeness of google. They seem to have everything right - incredibly wonderful core product (what is more dominantly superior in its industry, google search or the Gilette Mach 3 razor?), brilliant organisational culture that seems to innovate at the speed of sound, and a huge metric shit-ton of cash to spend on growing.
However, all those previous "wow" posts may have been superficial hand clapping over minor details compared to what might be coming:

"Google is working on a project to create its own global internet protocol (IP) network, a private alternative to the internet controlled by the search giant, according to sources who are in commercial negotiation with the company.Read the whole thing, it just gets way too James Bond - including 40 foot shipping containers crammed with processing power, ready to be played anywhere on earth to work as mobile data centres. It must be wonderful to be sitting in on some strategy meetings at Mountain View these days.....
Last month, Google placed job advertisements in America and the British national press for "Strategic Negotiator candidates with experience in...identification, selection, and negotiation of dark fibre contracts both in metropolitan areas and over long distances as part of development of a global backbone network".....
Time's latest cover story profiled Schmidt, Page & Brin... (should be accessible from time.com)
P.s.: join the discussion up on the main blog....
Bro,
Gillette has a commanding 70% share of the world market for wet-shaving products, with Schick a distant second, at 18%. Link

Google seems to be around 45%, but some people reckon its even double yahoo- even thats great but not m3 dominant.
Hey mate,
I'm also a google-holic... I have this seemingly inate need to check http://tech.memeorandum.com/ at least a few times a day. Don't know if you've seen it before but it's the best news aggregator for anything tech related. Keeps the finger on the pulse. They usually have a few new things on google each day. Come check out my blog
Adversaries? Yes.
But Google is the best thing that has ever happened to Microsoft employees. MS has its own unique corporate cult to rival AIESEC. The world is divided into "Microsoft" and "Not-Microsoft". They speak their own language. They have units of "personality cults" and loyal fans. The AP research centre here in Beijing is set up so that you never have to go home. Its a very unreal environment that makes it difficult to leave becuase it sucks you in.
So actually it is with some relief that Microsoft employees now look towards Google as a haven, in the event that they need to jump ship.
Whereas AIESECers...what are the alternatives apart from that void of "Not-AIESEC"???
