CNN interviewer to America's first elected Muslim congressman:
"Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies."
"Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies."
Come on man, don`t make me (proven CNN hater) defend CNN :)

BECK: OK. No offense, and I know Muslims. I like Muslims. I've been to mosques. I really don't believe that Islam is a religion of evil. I -- you know, I think it's being hijacked, quite frankly.
With that being said, you are a Democrat. You are saying, "Let's cut and run." And I have to tell you, I have been nervous about this interview with you, because what I feel like saying is, "Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies."
And I know you're not. I'm not accusing you of being an enemy, but that's the way I feel, and I think a lot of Americans will feel that way.

How does that make it any better? All the interviewer does is acknowledge that the guy isnt really an enemy, but that he stills feels that he might be, and that so do a lot of Americans.
even if the guy can let reality and rationality overcome his bigoted feelings (suspecting all muslims of cooperating with the enemy), the fact that he still thinks it appropriate to bust out his inner bigotry on national television shows him up as a total dick.
Yes it does. He is a dick. Ellison took it in stride.
Go Minnesota. This guy is a US born converted or not converted Muslim. The first black elected by Minnesota and the first Muslim to Congress.
Minnesota has a strong Somali community, so it might have helped his election chances to play up his faith.
