Pick and switch

My alternative headline for this article in The Age would have been "Israel a malicious, cluelessly destabilising force in the Middle East". The Age went for something a little more softly spoken, but hey, that's why I'm not Editor of a major newspaper...
"Israel calls to keep banBecause nothing is more awesome than the "international community" pushing Palestinians into civil war to make Israel happy....
THE Israeli Government is lobbying the international community to continue the financial and diplomatic blockade of the occupied territories following last week's unity deal between the two main Palestinians factions."
"malicious", "cluelessly", "destabilizing"...
hehe, keep'em coming, Tom, your engrained "objective" hatred towards Israel has found an unfortunate fertile land in your excellent writting skills...
when you run out of invectives, take a look at the last part of the article:
"... an adviser to Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said "the issue of recognition was not addressed at all"...
It might have something to do with Israel's reasons for wanting to continue the boycott...But, hey, don't let details take you off course...
Albert,
Do you think the current blockade is good for Israel? I'd say it is anything but.
It might feel like "punishing" the Palestinians for voting Hamas is a good idea. I think there are plenty of reasons why it isnt.
It is malicious because it intentionally destabilises and undermines the Palestinian government. Do you think that is good for Israelis, Palestinians or peace in the Middle East?
It is clueless because Israel is now officially backing one Palestinian faction - Fatah - who are useless old corrupt cronies, and who are responsible for the Al-Aqsa martyrs brigade.
The blockade was a terrible idea when first implemented. Becoming loud advocates for it, after seeing its results (a virtual civil war in the Palestinian territories) is both nasty and stupid.
I did read that the issue of recognition wasn't discussed - as I said above, recognition or no recognition, the blockade is a bad idea.
Re the engrained hatred for Israel - I dont know how to respond man. I don't hate Israel....By putting the quotation marks around objective, I'm guessing you are hinting at something?
