New Rule: It it isn't gold, I don't eat it

Iftar at the Emirates Palace was delightful, and this gold-topped rasberry helped me realise that I haven't been getting anywhere near my daily intake of gold lately. That needs to change.

Eating off of a gold plate is haram (forbidden in Islam), how much more wasteful and extravagant is eating the gold! (Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude to you personally, just the whole idea seemes unreasonable to me) Did it improve the berry's taste? I would think it would be unpleasant.

the gold didn't do anything to the taste, but it sure looked pretty.

wasteful and extravegant? welcome to the UAE...

The Emirates palace uses something phenomenal like 40 kilograms of gold each month - there's gold flakes topping the chocolate cake, sprinkled on cappucino, suspended in fruit jellies etc.

    LOL

It isn't metabolised by the human body, so you're really going to be gracing the pan!

    :)

40 kilos of gold a month!?! Now I am even more shocked and horrified. Here in Palestine when someone is "eating gold," it means that mom had to sell her jewelry to keep food on the table for the kids.

i'm assuming that isn't the only difference between the lifestyles of Palestinian and Gulf Arabs... so it should come as no surprise...
